Our Féile na Ceardainne, May 3-4 last was a resounding success. The sun shone on proceedings for the most part and music sounded across the craft village as our visitors were introduced to new crafts by our expert crafters. Bouncing castles and bright marquee added colour to the occasion and Micky and Minnie mouse were not short of hugs from wide-eyed children! Music was provided by the Molly Hicks and Ceann Golaim over the two days adding to the festive air. Equally enjoyable but also poignent were the reminiscences by those of Jesus Modia, the Spanish stone artist who lived in Spiddal and was largely intrumental in getting this craft village off the ground. Although he passed away in the mid 80s Jesus left his mark on Spiddal as witnessed by the fond testimonies. After the festival An Ceardlann donated a hamper of its artwork to RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta who offered it as a prize to its listeners. The winner was Bríd Ní Fhathara and Bríd is seen here being presented with the hamper by Máíre Uí Thadhg of the Craft Village.
Bhi an Fhéile thar barr agus bhi muid thar a bheith buíoch leis an lucht freastail air. Ag súil leis an gcéad cheann eile!
